Where is "Use Channel to modify dither/lossy/color setting" in Save for Web GIF now?

I realize this question is probably terribly outdated.

But on my old computer i had Photoshop CS3 open today, and remembered that the Save for Web & Devices function used to have some extra options under GIF.

We used to be able to further modify the amount of Dither or Lossy or even modify the color setting with an Alpha channel.

Which i thought was a pretty cool way to further reduce file size for GIFs.

 

Obviously that was a long time ago and I haven't used the versions between CS3 and now so i certainly am in no position to complain about features going away.

I just wanted to ask, is this feature still available but in a different place? Or is there a workaround to achieve a similar outcome?

 

Or is reducing GIF size not really a thing anymore?

My images are hazy and I don't know why

Hello. I am illustrating a book. I've been doing it since 2014, but this is the first time I have run into this problem.  The first image you see looks fine, no issues, but when you look at the second one you can tell it looks hazy. I just noticed this the other day and I don't know why all of my images minus page 1 and 2 ( I've completed 9 images so far) look hazy. I have the color set to CMYK mode so the color doesn't darken during printing. Could that be the reason why my images look the way they do? I could really use some help right now.

Canvas hidden on iMac Retina 27'' Mac OsX Sierra

Photoshop CC 2017 is installed freshly and frequently there are all windows gone including canvas. Pulldown menus are active and open files are listed in the windows pulldown menu. There seems no way out of this except new start program. Drives me mad !! Does anybody know what is wrong?

Content Aware scale - stretches only one side of picture

Hello

 

When im trying to stretch background with CA-Scale tool (protecting figure via Alpha channel) the background is streching its content only on one side.

As an effect I get picture on right side totally distored while on the left it is almost untouchted. It looks like as if the tool was working gradually.

 

Cannot figure out how to fix it

Trying to follow tutorials on luminosity but bits are missing

Hi,

I don't know if this has been asked before because I didn't really know how best to narrow my keywords down. I am exploring the use of luminosity masking and have successfully re-edited a few pictures that I'm significantly more proud of as a result. However, I have looked at a few tutorials now that give you a number of instructions and then tell you to go to the channels tab (no problem there) and they then have a list of different brightness channels under the four initial ones. I cannot, for the life of me, work out how to get these channels to appear. On each of the tutorials they just exist.

 

Am I not seeing it because that is one of the major changes that have been made for CC, or CC 17? I don't have the confidence or knowhow to expand luminosity masks beyond what it automatically chooses for me. I like to shoot at night or very late in the evening, especially by the sea to create fluffy waves and I have generally failed to get anywhere close to what I want as an outcome. I have been trying to learn luminosity masking as I thought it might be one way in to making those improvements. Any help anyone can give would be hugely appreciated.

Exporting IS TERRIBLE

I have used photoshop for many many years - your new updates are terrible. I've started to switch to sketch for almost everything since after I work on a file I cant export them properly... I am trying to export a png. what it SHOULD do is export the same size as the artboard. HOWEVER it decides that not only does it not need to export the size of the artboard, but it has a white background (which is NOT in my file).

I am an expert photoshop user - but since you guys have starting making crazy weird updates with bad usability I've started using it as minimally as possible... Shame...

Kunne ikke initialisere Photoshop da der fandtes en uventet filslutning.

Er der nogen der kan hjælpe med dette.

Elo,

I am not a fan of asking questions, but I am fairly new to this and trial & error could not help me on this one.

 

So it seems, that whenever I select/cut something and resize it (command T), I get the silhouette of the image, but not the actual "thing" I want. Screen Shot 2017-05-16 at 23.37.09.png

In this picture you can see that the actual part of the image (which I have just cut out and tried to resize) can not be selected, but a silhouette like thing has been and I am able to resize it. Not the part I want though.

 

The silhouette is rather hard to see, but there are two of them and they are very thin. Just under the bigger part.

 

Any suggestions? //Paul

PS CS5 Slow Opening PNG files why?

I have a Dell Optiplex with 16gigs ram. Nothing is broken with my system or Photoshop. My question is every time I open a .png file it seems to take a long time and then it opens and I have no problem manipulating it and resaving it. Is it just the way the png file format is or is it something to do with Photoshop? Is there something I can do to improve the time it takes to open png files. When I open any other file format they open fast but not png. Any explanation would gullibly be accepted as the truth at this point. Thanks.

For whatever reason, my licence wasn't added to my account and now its not being recognized on my computer. I don't have the copy of the license anymore since i bought it about 5 years ago. how the heck do i get the program to work again?! I have projects that need doing!

working with panoramic high rez images i was exporting to only 10% jpeg and received strange behavior art board export using "export as"

legacy is very very did i say "very" slow but works

Photoshop Variables - How do you Name Files from a Spreadsheet Column?

I'm using Photoshop CC Variables to create 3000 images from a CSV. As well as the image content, I also have a column of prepared filenames that match and identify the content. I want to avoid image001.psd, image002.psd etc as it would mean manually naming them or getting someone to do it with coding to match it all up.

 

So do you know how to get Photoshop to pull through the file names from a CSV and name the files as part of variables processing?

 

[If not] I could do this after variables processing by piping the file list of PSDs at the Command Prompt to a .txt file, and add this to a new CSV. Photoshop, or some other software, would then need to replace the PSD names with the names in the CSV. Obviously, this assumes Photoshop creates images in the same order as they appear on the sheet (or it will go out of sync). How would I do this?

Watermark

I've created a watermark and it's in the brush tool area. The problem is when I make a new layer, click on brush, my watermark is there and I can hover it over the picture but it won't stay or paste to the picture. What am I missing?

Photoshopping a silver gradient image

Hi,

 

I'd like to use the chrome image (1st attachment) to create the look of a shiny silver cosmetic cap for a paper mockup I'm creating.

 

However, as you'll see in the second attachment, the black bars on this silver gradient are too far to the right and left. I need them to be closer to the center, where the red lines are. I've copying them and moving them in and manipulating them to be a little thinner, but it doesn't look right and natural. Can anyone offer any guidance as to how to create black lines farther into the center and still have it look natural? Thanks! YELLOW-IMAGES-CHROME.png

Hoping To Find The Long Last "Touch Screen - Photoshop" Answer

So I have searched and searched and have read so many people asking this question for some time now and some of the replies people give lead me to believe somebody really should monitor this forum for people who don't either read the question or just plain and simply don't know what they're talking about. With that said, I am honestly not trying to be rude but other's have asked the question and have had the SILLIEST of responses.

 

My question: I have purchased a brand new Dell Alienware 15" TOUCH SCREEN to use with my iMac. I want to be able to do things like clipping paths and even simple drawing with either my finger or passive stylus but I can't figure out how to get Photoshop to recognize it for the life of me.  Does anybody have any real solutions to this?

Color tab does not contain all colors

Hi,

I mostly paint in Photoshop and I thought the Color tab with the color column and picker would be my saving grace, but it seems like it is not properly picking colors. It is missing a good chunk between red and purple.

Top and bottom of the column should be the same or perhaps 1 value different in hue.

 

Is this a known bug?

The size of the tab does not matter. It is always like this. The bottom is fine, that is accurately picked, top is not.

Is there a fix for this?

PS: PS CC 2017.0.0 - and I'll stick with it cause there are other bugs with the newer versions.
